On April 25, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, President of the UNESCO General Assembly.
At the reception, Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed the official visit of Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu to Vietnam, the first visit of a President of the UNESCO General Assembly since 2000.
Affirming that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and UNESCO is increasingly developing “comprehensive, substantive and effective”, Minister Bui Thanh Son requested the President of the General Assembly and UNESCO to continue to support and assist Vietnam through through specific activities, such as promoting the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam and UNESCO for the period 2021-2025; providing policy advice, sharing experiences serving socio-economic development, supporting cooperation in developing high-quality human resources; application and development of science, technology, and innovation; digital transformation; climate change adaptation, marine scientific research; promote cultural values, heritage, and the strength of Vietnamese people.
Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu affirmed that Vietnam is a reliable and responsible strategic partner of UNESCO, and one of the leading countries in effectively implementing UNESCO’s programs and activities. Vietnam also always receives the trust and confidence of international friends, evidenced by the fact that there are few countries like Vietnam that participate in five key operating mechanisms at the same time.
The UNESCO representative also agreed with the proposals of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the direction of cooperation in the coming time, supporting Vietnam to promote its titles and heritage, and at the same time register records such as: Monument complexes and scenic spots of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac; Oc Eo-Ba The archaeological site; Con Moong Cave; Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain; Dong Ho folk paintings; Cheo Art; Mo Muong; Lang Son Geopark; The Nine Peaks of Hue and especially the Project to preserve and promote the value of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Center, where she recently visited, left many emotions and impressions and hope the project will be approved soon. next.
