On the morning of April 26, the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and the government of Sanjo city, Niigata province (Japan) held a conference to summarize the project to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the framework of the popularization program. access, verify, and commercialize through the introduction of Vietnamese products produced by Tsubame – Sanjo and the Tsubame Sanjo brand in Vietnam (Sanjo project).

The Sanjo project was signed to be implemented in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province from 2019 and ends in August 2024. The Sanjo project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with a total value of 1.9 million USD, of which non-refundable foreign non-governmental aid capital is 1.7 million USD. Counterpart capital (provincial budget) is more than 4.6 billion VND. To implement the project, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with a consortium of 4 Japanese enterprises to select 5 model enterprises from the province to participate and sign a cooperation agreement.

Although progress was delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, to date, the Sanjo project has completed its set goals. Specifically, producing products with common brands of the Tsubame-Sanjo and Ba Ria – Vung Tau regions, including 2 hand saw products, 2 kitchen knife products, 3 beauty products; technical and environmental support and management skills training for small and medium enterprises in the province; Training and guiding civil servants and officials of the Industry and Trade sector to develop solutions and make policies to support SMEs…

At the conference, Sanjo City handed over machinery, equipment and products of the Sanjo project to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province for management.

Along with that, the province also received and built a showroom for machinery, equipment, and products of the Tsubame Sanjo – Ba Ria – Vung Tau project to support small and medium enterprises in the province; while promoting generic brand products and Tsubame-Sanjo products.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, said that based on the results achieved from the Sanjo project, he requested the Department of Industry and Trade to continue to apply the knowledge and experience gained to advise. Policies and programs to support SMEs in the province effectively and practically. At the same time, organize the management, exploitation and use of transferred aid assets for the right purpose and effectively, reporting the results to the Provincial People’s Committee.

Mr. Takizawa, mayor of Sanjo City, believes that the connection of companies between the two localities has been firmly built and will continue even after the project ends. In the future, Sanjo City hopes to continue supporting the development of businesses on both sides, in areas such as human resource training and market development.

The People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and the Sanjo city government jointly implemented an action program and signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing friendly and cooperative relations for the period 2024 – 2026.
