On the morning of April 26, Party and State leaders laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the country’s unification.
The delegation of the Party Central Committee, the President, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front then offered incense and commemorated the martyrs at the Memorial on Bac Son Street.
Joining the delegation were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue; Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee Truong Thi Mai; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army Luong Cuong.
Also attending the visitation ceremony were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
The wreath placed in front of the Mausoleum has the words “Eternal gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh”. The wreath at the Memorial of Martyrs and Heroes reads “Eternal gratitude to the Heroes and Martyrs”.
Also in the morning, delegations of the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, Central Police Party Committee, City Party Committee, People’s Council, Hanoi People’s Committee… entered the mausoleum to offer incense.
Celebrating national reunification day (April 30, 1975), Ho Chi Minh City will display fireworks at 16 locations, of which 10 locations are along the Saigon River.
Today is the last working day for civil servants, public employees, and workers nationwide before the holiday from April 27 to May 1, with make-up work on May 4.
