On April 26, the Department of Tourism of Quang Binh province confirmed that it had received a report from a unit specializing in exploiting cave tourism in Quang Ninh district about the discovery of a new cave, with a system of enchanting stalactites in the village. Iron, Truong Son commune, belongs to this district.
Previously, through the survey process, this unit discovered a new cave in Sat village and named it Lu cave. After that, the unit created a project on community tourism combined with cave exploration and sent it to the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province and the Department of Tourism.
At the end of April 2024, the unit continued to coordinate with the Sat Village Community Forest Management Board to conduct a second survey of Lu cave.
The survey process determined that the cave is 2km long, the cave entrance is 8m high, 9m wide, has 4 cave branches with 100m of dry cave, the rest is wet cave.
Inside the cave, the highest point is about 35m, there is an underground river system. The cave is located about an hour away from Sat village.
The special thing about Lu cave is the stalactite system inside the cave. Accordingly, through the accumulation process, layers of stalactites have formed in the cave like giant interconnected carpets of enchanting beauty.
To accurately assess the value of Lu cave, relevant authorities of Quang Binh province will set up a team to inspect. Then we can consider exploiting the value of this cave for tourism.
Previously, another cave also with shimmering and magical beauty was recently discovered in Truong Son commune, Son Nu cave.
These two caves are a few kilometers apart and are both considered landmark discoveries for Quang Binh’s cave system.
