Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, leaders of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requested that departments, branches, localities and businesses need to continue to promote information, propaganda and dissemination of policies, laws and knowledge and skills on OSH in many appropriate and diverse forms; Strengthen the organization of OSH training classes to prevent risks and minimize risks of occupational accidents; Strengthen direction, coordination, and state management of OSH; Departments, branches, branches, localities, and businesses proactively implement Action Plans to respond to Workers’ Month and Action Month on OSH; Improve the effectiveness of inspection and examination, promptly detect and handle violations of the law on OSH.

However, OSH work still has some challenges: the number of businesses and workers participating in the labor market is increasing; New occupations and harmful factors appear due to many new technologies, equipment, materials, and chemicals; Employees have not been trained or trained in OSH; Industrial style is still limited, production technology level in some enterprises is still low. This leads to risks of loss of work safety, violations, occupational accidents, and fires and explosions still occur.

In particular, on April 22, 2024, a particularly serious occupational accident occurred at Yen Bai Cement Factory, belonging to Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company; As a result, 7 workers died and 3 workers were injured. Immediately after the accident, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People’s Committee and competent agencies directly inspected the scene and directed measures to handle and overcome the consequences of the particularly serious occupational accident. In this important matter, direct the organization of visits and encouragement to the families of victims of death and injury. At the same time, departments, branches, branches, localities and businesses have been directed to increase their responsibility to ensure OSH at businesses and production and business establishments in the province.

At the Launching Ceremony, 6 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in OSH work in 2023 received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee; The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor presented the Emulation Flag to the Tran Yen District Labor Federation and awarded a Certificate of Merit to a collective and an individual who had outstanding achievements in the emulation movement “Green – clean – beautiful, protecting ensuring occupational safety and hygiene” in 2023; Department of Labor Safety awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals with many achievements in OSH work in 2023; Provincial OSH Council presented gifts to 2 workers who suffered occupational accidents have disadvantaged.
