To date, the Special Investigation Committee has prosecuted and arrested 13 defendants including the mastermind, leader and accomplices who actively participated in the illegal gold mining case that occurred in Phan Son commune, Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province and Da Quyn commune, Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province.

According to the investigation, from July 2023 to December 9, 2023, the four leaders were Nguyen Manh Hoang, Le Quoc Bao, Nguyen Van Tien, Nguyen Van Binh (both residing in Da Loan commune, Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province) and his accomplices brought vehicles including excavators, tractors, crushers, filters and many chemicals including toxic substances such as mercury and acid, to gather at 3 locations in the village. Ta Moon, Phan Son commune, Bac Binh district.

During the process of mining and separating, these people collected more than 90 taels of gold of all kinds, illegally selling and selling for more than 3.6 billion VND.

The Police Department of Binh Thuan Province temporarily confiscated 3 excavators, 2 tractors, 11 filters – crushers – dams, 5 generators, 2 pickup trucks, many samples, vehicles, tools, and chemicals. substance used for gold mining and separation. At the same time, the amount of 650 million VND voluntarily paid by the subjects was confiscated to overcome the consequences.

Currently, the Police Investigation Agency of Binh Thuan Provincial Police coordinates closely with the Provincial People’s Procuracy to deploy litigation activities and expand the investigation of the criminal acts of the defendants; Review and freeze assets to ensure asset recovery.

Previously, with the direct direction of Colonel Le Quang Nhan – Director of Binh Thuan Provincial Police, on December 9, 2023, more than 150 officers and soldiers simultaneously deployed troops. labour implementing the crime solving plan. Thereby, 4 groups with 27 subjects were discovered illegally mining gold in the niche area of ​​Dao Giua, Phan Son commune, Bac Binh district.

The police prosecuted 4 criminal cases, prosecuted 13 defendants, ordered the arrest and detention of 12 defendants, and banned 1 defendant from leaving his place of residence for “Violating regulations on resource exploitation.” ” and “Illegal trading, storage, and use of toxic substances”.
