Most countries expressed concern about the risk of conflict escalation; Calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and end the cycle of violence and retaliation against each other.

Many countries expressed disappointment that the Security Council on April 18 was unable to pass a draft resolution on admitting Palestine as an official member of the United Nations.

Speaking at the Discussion Session, Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Charge d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, expressed deep concern about the increasing tension in the Middle East; affirms that Vietnam opposes all acts of threatening or using force, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of any country, and going against international law and the United Nations Charter; strongly condemns all forms of violence against civilians and civilian infrastructure as well as recent attacks against commercial vessels on international maritime routes.

Charge d’affaires of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations calls on all relevant parties to exercise maximum restraint, stop hostile actions, unconditionally release all hostages, and comply with international law. International and related United Nations resolutions.
