Even though they failed, this is a great motivation for coach Diego Raul and his team to continue conquering the goal ahead. Immediately after the match against Uzbekistan, coach Diego Raul reminded his players to forget the defeat to face the challenges ahead in the play-off match against Kyrgyzstan taking place at 4:00 p.m. April 26 (Hanoi time).

The Argentine coach clearly understands that if he wants a ticket to attend the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup, the team must win both play-off matches in this tournament. The upcoming journey is said to be stressful and tiring, consuming a lot of physical strength and the ability to withstand pressure of the Vietnamese futsal team.

Kyrgyzstan used to be a normal name in the continental tournament but has advanced very strongly in recent times. The representative from Central Asia is ranked 49th in FIFA, only 5 places lower than Vietnam. The Kyrgyzstan team won against Japan in 2016 and did so again this year, making the defending champion the former king right from the group stage. Kyrgyzstan is led by Spanish coach Luis Bennatt. He worked for the Thai Son Nam youth team in the period 2017-2019 and also has a lot of knowledge about the Vietnamese futsal team.

The strength of the team from Central Asia demonstrated at the 2024 Asian Futsal Finals is that they possess good physical shape but lack dexterity. This is considered an opportunity for the Vietnamese futsal team to boldly promote the players’ breakthrough ability. After witnessing the quarterfinal match between Vietnamese players and Uzbekistan, maybe Kyrgyzstan will be careful when facing coach Diego Raul and his team.

The Vietnamese futsal team may need a little more luck in their finishing. Up to now, coach Diego Raul’s students have only had 4 goals, the lowest among the teams that reached the quarterfinals. Finishing shots may require more decisiveness to give the Vietnamese futsal team an advantage. Remaining, the issues of coordination, proactive attacks, balance in using teams… have been significantly improved under coach Diego Raul.

Coach Diego Raul affirmed that if the team can maintain the way they played against Uzbekistan in the match against Kyrgyzstan, they can definitely win. He is confident in his students’ ability to win.
