Converting to a green lighting system can be considered a pioneering, fundamental, quick, easy to implement, and easily measured step on the green transformation journey with many different items. In particular, innovating lighting technology in factories is one of the quick and effective solutions to improve competitiveness in the textile industry.

Many textile and garment enterprises have converted to green lighting systems in their green transformation journey to increase the competitiveness of their products.

According to data from the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) in 2023, textile and garment export turnover is estimated to reach about 40.3 billion USD, down 10% compared to 2022 and much lower than the initial target set by the industry. is reaching 47 – 48 billion USD. In addition to the decrease in orders, production unit prices also decreased by an average of 30%, and some types even decreased by up to 50%.

In the global competition trend of the textile and garment industry, in addition to the issues of economic recession, labor resources, war, capital… Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) ) noted the green transformation in the garment industry when having to compete with 104 export markets, including markets such as Africa, Russia, India… Especially Bangladesh – one of the countries developing make the green transition quite well.

In 2023, a number of our country’s orders have returned to Bangladesh because this garment country has rapidly greened its supply chain. Specifically, Bangladesh has up to 153 factories meeting LEED standards (energy and environmental design orientation), they also have 500 factories currently applying to receive this certification.

A representative of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vista) said that Vietnam has signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with 53 countries. However, new generation FTAs also pose challenges as green growth requirements become increasingly strict. More than 80% of small and medium-sized enterprises lack investment capital to convert green production to achieve prestigious green certificates such as LEED and LOTUS certificates. Especially, in the context of major markets like the EU tightening environmental protection standards, green transformation becomes more urgent than ever.

“One of the important evaluation categories of LEED green building certification from the US Green Building Council or LOTUS green building certification from the Vietnam Green Building Council is the energy category, including lighting. plays a big role. Green lighting, smart lighting… are solutions for building green buildings that are quick and easy to implement, can be measured and quantified,” said Architect Vu Linh Quang, Managing Director of ARDOR Green, Thanh Hoa. Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Green Building Council said.
