Reduced sentences for peaceful prisoners on the occasion of the Great Holiday

Attending the announcement ceremony were representatives of leaders of the People’s Procuracy of Hoa Binh province, the Department of Criminal Judgment Execution and Judicial Support of the Provincial Police, and the Detention Camp Supervision Board. Comrade Senior Lieutenant Colonel Doan Tat Thang, Warden of Hoa Binh Provincial Police Detention Camp, chaired the announcement ceremony.

Among the 9 prisoners who were given decisions to reduce the length of their prison sentences this time, 02 prisoners had their entire prison sentences reduced and were released on April 16, 2024; 07 prisoners had their prison sentences reduced from 2 to 7 months. The prisoners considered for reduction this time are progressive prisoners, have a positive labor and reform process, strictly comply with the prison facility’s rules, and have served at least 1/3 of their prison sentence. , actively overcome the consequences.

The consideration of reducing prison sentences for prisoners demonstrates the humane and lenient policy of our Party and State towards criminals; has the effect of encouraging those sentenced to prison to be determined to reform, study, and return to justice so that they can soon have the opportunity to reintegrate into the community. Particularly for prisoners who have their prison sentences reduced and return to their families on this occasion, the Provincial Police Detention Center Supervision Board has contacted localities to coordinate guidance and help them. reintegrate into the community, find a stable job, and eliminate the risk of recidivism; so that they can build a new life and become useful to their family and society.
