And the opponent of the Vietnam futsal team in play-off 1 is Kyrgyzstan. The match will take place at 4:00 p.m. on April 26 (FPT Play THTT) at the Bangkok Arena in Thailand.

Solve the power play problem

Vietnam’s futsal team regretfully missed out on their ticket after losing 1-2 to Uzbekistan. Despite having the opportunity, the Vietnamese futsal team was unable to finish the match and had to pay the price after two set situations led to Uzbekistan’s goal. It can be seen that the Vietnamese futsal team is confused by Uzbekistan’s ability to play power play (goalkeeper participating in the attack). Although not directly involved in the scoring situation, goalkeeper Abbsos (Uzbekistan) caused a lot of trouble for Vietnamese futsal.

Even coach Giustozzi also expressed discomfort with the 5-on-4 play (power play) of the Uzbekistan futsal team. It shows that the Vietnamese futsal team does not have a policy of playing 5v4 and using effective anti-power plays to score goals. Under this Argentine coach, the Vietnamese futsal team seems to limit power play. Specifically, Coach Giustozzi often assigns Pham Duc Hoa to be a reluctant goalkeeper in training tournaments. But when entering the official tournament, this task was assigned to Tu Minh Quang (No. 12). Minh Quang played the power play mainly to buy time in the 1-2 loss to Thailand, but did not show a clear plan to attack. Therefore, the Vietnamese futsal team is limited in their attacks and has a low scoring differential with only 4 goals.

Kyrgyzstan conceded quite a few goals

The opponent of the Vietnamese futsal team is currently ranked 49th on the world rankings (5 places lower than Vietnam). However this doesn’t make too much sense. We even have to be cautious because Kyrgyzstan defeated defending champion Japan 3-2 in the group stage, indirectly creating a shock for the “bogey man” of Asian futsal.

Kyrgyzstan also finished the group stage with an undefeated record (1 win and 2 draws). Despite scoring 10 goals in the group stage (compared to Vietnam’s 3), coach Luis Molina’s team also conceded 9 goals. In particular, their 3 important goals all came from power plays.

The Vietnamese futsal team probably doesn’t have to be afraid of Kyrgyzstan’s 5v4 playing style. This is because power play is not the strong point of the Spanish coach as well as the Kyrgyzstan futsal team. The person that goalkeeper Ho Van Y must be careful with is striker Kairat Kubanychov, who has 3 goals in the tournament.

Although they chose a counter-attacking defensive style, Kyrgyzstan’s players did not play solidly. They easily concede goals when they are engrossed in attacking or get caught up in their opponent’s playing style. If they make good use of these opportunities, the Vietnamese futsal team can score and continue to the decisive play-off match.
