‘The Vietnamese team must forget their sadness and be determined to win against Kyrgyzstan for the World Cup dream’

Speaking before the play-off match with Kyrgyzstan this afternoon (April 26), goalkeeper Ho Van Y said that the Vietnamese team will play their best to not disappoint fans in the race to win a ticket to the 2024 Futsal World Cup.

“I will ignore the sadness and regret of the quarter-finals and focus most on the match against Kyrgyzstan, and try to show my best to win with the whole team. Even if it is the quarter-finals or play-off, the Vietnamese team still has the same goal of winning tickets to the 2024 futsal World Cup,” Ho Van Y assessed.

The goalkeeper playing for Thai Son Nam Club further shared that coach Diego Giustozzi has aroused the spirit of the Vietnamese team. The Argentine coach wants his students to forget the sadness of losing to Uzbekistan to focus on the match.

“During the team meeting, coach Giustozzi said that the players performed well against Uzbekistan. However, the result is only win or lose and we have to accept the unexpected. Therefore, the whole team must be determined to take mentally prepare for this play-off match,” Ho Van Y shared.

On the morning of April 25, the entire team relaxed and lightly stretched at the gym. In the afternoon of the same day, the Vietnamese team went back to practice to prepare for the match with Kyrgyzstan.

Assessing the opponent, Ho Van Y said: “Kyrgyzstan has developed strongly. They played differently from the qualifying round to the final round of this season.

In every situation, the whole team always tries to show their best, regardless of the expectations and cheers of the fans. I hope everyone will continue to accompany the Vietnamese team through this difficult period.”

The Kyrgyzstan team is an emerging force in the Asian futsal village. In the group stage, the Central Asian representative defeated Japan 3-2 to win the ticket to the next round, forcing defending champion Japan to stop early. In the quarterfinals, Kyrgyzstan lost 1-6 to Iran.

The Vietnamese team will play a play-off with Kyrgyzstan to choose the team that reaches the final round, before competing for a ticket to the 2024 Futsal World Cup.
