This is considered one of the meaningful activities of Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 49th anniversary of National Unification Day (April 30), 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu campaign victory (May 7). ).

In addition to welcoming the delegation of Dien Bien Phu veterans, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board also welcomed other delegations from foreign representative agencies in Ho Chi Minh City to take metro train No. 1.

At 9:15 a.m., at Ben Thanh station, the loudspeaker announced that all passengers were preparing to board metro train No. 1 to follow the route of about 40km (from Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien and vice versa). The veterans are all over 80 years old, with gray hair and age-spotted skin.

Even though they no longer move quickly, they always smile brightly and eagerly wait for the train to roll off.

Stepping onto the spacious and new train, Mr. Phan Hai Tan (92 years old) could not hide his emotions.

For Mr. Tan, even though he experienced this type of train when he went to Japan, experiencing it in his country, in his city and at the time of passing nearly a lifetime are extremely special emotions.

“Once upon a time, I was in the 77th Regiment, participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Our mission was to train and send troops to the battlefield. Having gone through a long and difficult time with the country, now I see things today. The more I develop, the more I feel happy as a soldier.

Now that I have set foot on this metro train number 1, I can fully feel that our country is becoming more modern day by day. I hope that not only Ho Chi Minh City, but the whole country will have more works and projects to help the country grow stronger, richer and more beautiful,” Mr. Tan recalled.

Mr. Ky confided: “Now that our country has the conditions, the people will promote the achievements and victories to build a more magnificent country. I find it so wonderful, Ho Chi Minh City has a metro for the first time.” Number 1, that veterans get to experience, is the favor that the city gives us. The grandparents are old but still laugh and enjoy the fortunes of the younger generation.”

At each station, trains will stop for 30 seconds and the platform gate system will open automatically. Along with the testing process, System Safety Consulting – BVT Joint Venture will have measurements and assessments to ensure safe integrated testing systems.

Testing and safety assessment of trains on metro line No. 1 has been carried out from 2023 to present.

In the coming time, when the operation and maintenance staff are proficient, the project will move to a trial operation phase of about 2 months, before the project officially operates in the fourth quarter of this year.

Ho Chi Minh City is also preparing to put metro line No. 1 into operation and start construction of metro line No. 2, developing urban railway lines until 2035.”
