Receiving Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, President of the General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), on April 25, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to cooperation. multilateral cooperation and the role of UNESCO; ready to share Vietnam’s experiences and successful lessons with member countries.

Welcoming the official visit of Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu to Vietnam, the first visit by a President of the UNESCO General Assembly since 2000, the Minister emphasized that Vietnam will continue to proactively contribute to efforts of UNESCO, firstly preparing for the United Nations Future Summit in September 2024 in New York.

The Minister expressed his joy that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and UNESCO is increasingly developing “comprehensive, substantive and effective”; Emphasizing that UNESCO’s support has been making an important contribution to the process of sustainable socio-economic development, promoting the cultural values, image, country and people of Vietnam.

Minister Bui Thanh Son requested the President of the General Assembly and UNESCO to continue to support and support Vietnam through specific activities such as promoting the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO for the period 2021-2025 ; policy advice, sharing experiences serving socio-economic development; Support cooperation in developing high-quality human resources; application and development of science, technology, and innovation; digital transformation; climate change adaptation, marine scientific research; promote cultural values, heritage, and the strength of Vietnamese people.
