Welcoming the official visit of Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu to Vietnam, the first visit by a President of the UNESCO General Conference since 2000, the Minister emphasized that Vietnam will continue to proactively contribute to efforts to UNESCO’s efforts include preparing for the United Nations Future Summit in September 2024 in New York. Minister Bui Thanh Son requested the President of the General Assembly and UNESCO to continue to support and support Vietnam through specific activities such as promoting the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO for the period 2021-2025 ; policy advice, sharing experiences serving socio-economic development; Support cooperation in developing high-quality human resources; application and development of science, technology, and innovation; digital transformation; climate change adaptation, marine scientific research; promote cultural values, heritage, and the strength of Vietnamese people.

Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu expressed her sincere thanks to the Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam National Committee for UNESCO and relevant localities for welcoming her very thoughtfully and cordially; recalled the good memories of coming to Vietnam 22 years ago when accompanying the President of Romania on an official visit to Vietnam as Presidential Advisor.

She also shared Minister Bui Thanh Son’s assessment of the good traditional friendship relationship over nearly 75 years, based on mutual understanding and trust, help and support to share and develop together. between Vietnam and Romania; Expressing impressions and congratulating Vietnam’s achievements in innovation, integration, dynamic and creative development while still preserving cultural values ​​and heritage.

Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu affirmed that Vietnam is a strategic, reliable and responsible partner of UNESCO, one of the leading countries in effectively implementing UNESCO programs and activities, always receiving support. trust and confidence of international friends, evidenced by the fact that few countries like Vietnam participate in five key operating mechanisms at the same time.

The President of the General Assembly also agreed with the Foreign Minister’s proposals on the direction of cooperation in the future; affirming that UNESCO is always a companion and reliable partner of Vietnam; Support Vietnam to promote titles and heritages, and at the same time register documents such as: Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac relics and landscapes complex; Oc Eo-Ba The archaeological site; Con Moong Cave; Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain; Dong Ho folk paintings; Cheo Art; Mo Muong; Lang Son Geopark; Nine Peaks Hue…; and especially the Project to preserve and promote the value of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Center, where she recently visited, leaving many emotions and impressions and hoping the Project will be approved soon in the near future.

She highly appreciated Vietnam’s hosting of important events in 2024 such as the 10th Anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized as a World Heritage Site (Ninh Binh, April 2024), the Ceremony of awarding Certificate of recognition of Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Islands as a World Heritage Site (Hai Phong, May 2024), Peace Festival (Quang Tri, July 2024) and the 8th International Conference of the Park Network Global geology in the Asia-Pacific region (Cao Bang, September 2024).

On the same day, the Chairman of the UNESCO General Assembly came to greet and have a working meeting with Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. , Chairman of the Vietnam National Committee for UNESCO Ha Kim Ngoc. It is expected that the Chairman of the UNESCO General Assembly will have a working session with leaders of Ninh Binh province, attend and speak at the 10th Anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized as a World Heritage Site (2014-2024). ./.
