Kien Giang: Veterans meeting to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South

Attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Luu Trung, representatives of leaders, former leaders of the province, departments and branches, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces (AHLLVT) and more than 500 veterans and families. Veterans’ families of Battalion 207 – 519, Artillery Company 616 – 617 and Provincial Military Medical Company.

At the meeting, delegates watched the documentary “Complimentary to the Country – Completely Loyal to the Country”. The film recreates many contents about the establishment, fighting, and glorious victories that made the history of Battalion 207 – Battalion 519, contributing to liberating the province; and outstanding results after 10 years of establishing the Veterans Liaison Committee of Battalion 207 – Battalion 519.

Head of the Veterans Liaison Committee of Battalion 207-519 (Liaison Committee) Bui Ngoc Suong said that every year, the Liaison Committee organizes meetings and exchanges to review the heroic revolutionary traditions of the Battalion generations. Group 207 – Battalion 519 during the years of resistance and during the construction period to protect the Fatherland.

After 10 years of establishment and operation, the Liaison Committee has implemented many meaningful activities, focusing on social work, visiting and supporting members when sick; Organize historical traditional education for the younger generation to follow.

Accordingly, the Liaison Committee held 19 meetings to review traditions and relationshipsThe team stuck together closely during the years of resistance and arduous and heroic salvation of the country. Besides, Liaison Department mobilized to build and repair 87 houses, worth over 4 billion VND, for veterans who are having difficulty finding housing and partially supported veterans and their families who are having difficulty in life.

This is an activity with a very profound meaning, both as an opportunity to review and be proud of the glorious traditions of the units in the Liaison Committee, as well as an opportunity to remind generations of officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces to always respectfully preserve, cultivate and constantly promote glorious communication.
