As a form of secondary glaucoma, neovascular glaucoma is caused by stimulation of new blood vessels, usually ischemia. Most eyes with neovascular glaucoma already have other diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, central retinal vein occlusion, intraocular tumors, etc., which also stimulate neovascular development. Treatment of neovascular glaucoma is extremely difficult because in the advanced stages it is difficult to respond to treatment, so a combination of many different methods is needed.

In the report, Dr. Thao shared about three typical clinical cases of neovascular glaucoma and were prescribed laser treatment combining ciliary photocoagulation and PRP. There is a case of a 62-year-old patient who was diagnosed with neovascular glaucoma in the left eye and was treated to lower eye pressure with medication but the eye pressure did not decrease. After being prescribed treatment with both ciliary laser photocoagulation and retinal PRP, intraocular pressure stabilized after 1.5 months.

Conclusion on treatment methods, Dr.CKI. Le Thi Phuong Thao affirmed that PRP laser and ciliary laser photocoagulation are two effective neovascular glaucoma treatment methods to lower eye pressure and preserve the patient’s eyeball. In particular, PRP laser reduces neovascularization and can be treated in the early stages when the angle is still open. If the stage is late and the angle is closed, it is necessary to combine laser photocoagulation of the ciliary body to control intraocular pressure.

For the conference in particular and the ophthalmology community in general, the report has contributed a practical perspective on the application of laser methods in the treatment of Glaucoma, contributing to affirming the effectiveness and increasing the reliability of the method. this method. For Hanoi Eye Hospital facility 2, participating in a report at the conference is an honor, affirming professional maturity and continuous effort to learn to improve professional skills.
