Green tourism, sustainable development direction of Khanh Hoa Tourism industry

On the morning of April 26, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province organized a local policy forum with the topic “Green and sustainable tourism development”.

Attending the Forum were Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh; Director of the Institute of Tourism Development Research – Vietnam National Tourism Administration Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan; Standing Chairman of Vietnam Fisheries Association Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Chu Hoi, along with more than 150 delegates who are scientists, speakers, representatives of associations, businesses operating in the field of tourism and representatives of universities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan said that in recent times, Khanh Hoa tourism has taken steps to recover and develop strongly after the pandemic. However, besides these achievements, tourism is currently facing many challenges in developing, exploiting, and using natural resources as well as problems of local overcrowding, seasonality, and other problems. in environmental management, improving quality and diversifying tourism products, the impact of climate change and sea level rise.

Therefore, for tourism to develop sustainably, it is essential to follow green tourism. Green tourism is a type of tourism that operates in a way that minimizes its impact on the environment. Developing green tourism not only plays an important role in protecting the environment and natural resources, but also brings new values ​​to tourism products, contributing to improving economic efficiency, while maintaining the viability of tourism products. long-term, sustainable exploitation.

“I hope that, through this Forum, we will come up with solutions and orientations to build Khanh Hoa tourism into a green and sustainable tourism industry, contributing to comprehensive development. and prosperity of Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular in the future”, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan emphasized.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh – Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, development towards green growth is a trend that many countries are interested in, in order to adjust and strengthen different aspects of policies to simultaneously achieve the goals of economic growth, social development and especially environmental protection and adaptation to climate change.

Vietnam’s tourism development strategy until 2030 has identified specific contents on tourism development in the direction of green growth: Developing tourism to truly become a key economic sector, creating a driving force to promote the development of tourism. develop other industries and fields, making an important contribution to forming a modern economic structure.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh also said that from the orientation of tourism development towards green growth to implementation actions in practical conditions brings many opportunities, but also poses many challenges, especially maintaining the speed of tourism. growth and protection of resources and the environment.

This is a long-term process that requires full awareness and participation of the entire society to change the way of exploiting resources, providing tourism services as well as influencing tourism consumption habits, improving capacity and efficiency of tourism management in general.
