The King Palace project (Dinh I, No. 1, Tran Quang Dieu, Ward 10, Da Lat City) was revoked by Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee and handed over to the City. Da Lat manages and plans to put land into use according to regulations.
During the briefing and providing press information on the afternoon of April 25, Mr. Pham S – Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee said that the King Palace Project at No. 1, Tran Quang Dieu, Ward 10, City. Da Lat, owned by Hoan Cau Da Lat Joint Stock Company, will have to close on April 26. This is a drastic move of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province in revoking this project according to a decision that has been in place since 2022.
According to the reporter’s research, in 2015, Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee assigned Hoan Cau Da Lat Joint Stock Company 18 hectares of hills connected to the Palace I project and a number of villas to exploit tourism. This business is also allowed to remodel for business and service purposes.
As noted by the reporter on April 24, the entrance to the above project with rows of ancient, green trees next to the paved road of Palace I is quite crowded with visitors. The ticket price sold to visitors is 90,000 VND.
In particular, the main building in Palace 1 is more than 800m2 wide with 1 basement, ground floor and 1 upper floor currently displaying dragon robes and many artifacts recreated during the Nguyen Dynasty kings.

According to a document from the Department of Finance, based on working with Hoan Cau Da Lat Joint Stock Company, the parties have agreed that the valid investment value of the project as of the termination date on September 17, 2021 is more than 112 billion VND. After depreciation and deduction of Palace I rent, the actual amount that Lam Dong province needs to repay to the company is nearly 73 billion VND.
Tourists visit and take photos in the Palace I campus on the afternoon of April 24. In addition, within the Palace I campus, there are many areas such as villas and royal gardens on the hill that also attract tourists.
The room where King Bao Dai’s important meetings took place with his mandarins is recreated on the first floor of the building. A wax statue of King Bao Dai was also erected in this room.
According to the conclusion of the Government Inspectorate in 2020, Lam Dong province decided to lease the house and land of Dinh I to Hoan Cau Da Lat Joint Stock Company to implement the investment project of King Palace tourist and resort service area while not contained in the Land Use Plan for the period 2011-2015 is a violation of regulations in the Land Law.
The Government Inspectorate also pointed out that leasing Palace I real estate and villas on a 1.86ha land plot without auction is a violation of regulations. Therefore, in mid-2022, the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province has decided to revoke the land leased to Hoan Cau Da Lat Joint Stock Company and hand it over to the City People’s Committee. Managed by Da Lat. The withdrawal and closure of this project has only now been implemented.
