Tien Giang mitinh responds to World Immunization Week

(THTG) On April 26, Tien Giang Department of Health organized a rally in response to World Immunization Week 2024 with the message “Joining hands to vaccinate and prevent epidemics for a healthy Vietnam”, and Tien Giang province with the theme: “Restoring vaccination rates to raise community awareness of the benefits of vaccination”.

Immunization Week 2024 takes place from April 24 – 30, 2024, along with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Global Expanded Program on Immunization, this is an opportunity to honor the achievements of expanded vaccination ( TCMR), highlights the impact of the EPI Program in saving lives, protecting human health, and promoting innovation to strengthen this important vaccination work.

After nearly 40 years of implementing the EPI Program, achieving and maintaining a high vaccination rate of over 95%, Vietnam eliminated polio in 2000, eliminated neonatal tetanus in 2005 and successfully protected this result from then until now. Dangerous infectious diseases such as measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus have been reduced dozens to hundreds of times.

According to a report from the Department of Health of Tien Giang, EPI work is regularly organized in 172 communes, wards and towns across the province on the 10th-15th and 25th-30th of every month, creating convenience for local residents. Mothers bring their children to be vaccinated.

After the meeting, Youth Union members and students of the Medical College participated in a promotional parade on the streets of My Tho city to increase communication about the benefits of vaccination, helping people understand preventive vaccination. The disease is safe, take children to be fully vaccinated and on schedule to prevent and fight dangerous infectious diseases.
