On the morning of April 26, nearly 2 days after the historic hailstorm, the family of Mr. Mua A Cho (48 years old, Co Cham village) sadly handled the tree and crushed tomatoes.
Mr. Cho said that his family has 3,000 tomato plants that have produced fruit and will be harvested in about a month. But the hailstorm ruined everything, causing their efforts to “pour into the rivers and streams”.
“If tomatoes had not been hit by hail, they would have yielded an average of 30 million VND per 1,000 plants, but now they are all gone. When the hailstorm fell, my wife and children ran to the garden to see but there was no time to do anything because the rain was too fast and terrible. terrible,” Mr. Cho shared.
Mrs. Song Thi So (Mr. Cho’s wife) has been crying all these days.
Mrs. So confided that all the tree stumps and tomatoes could not be used, the family had to uproot and pick up all the fruit to avoid rotten fruit, causing pests and diseases for the next generation of plants. The whole family’s half-year effort has been lost.
“With 3,000 tomato plants, the family has to invest a lot of money in seedlings, fertilizers, sprays… the total investment is about 50 million, that’s not including labor,” Ms. Song Thi So said in tear.
Sharing the same situation of losing everything is the family of Mr. Mua A Pua (50 years old, residing in Co Cham village).
After the hailstorm, Mr. Pua did not go to the fields for more than a day because he was afraid of seeing his crops destroyed. Mr. Pua said that last year, growing tomatoes brought good income, so this year, his family put all their resources and finances into doing it.
“I feel so sad all day today, I don’t want to go to the fields. My family has beans planted and 7,000 tomato plants have produced fruit. Only one more month to harvest but now it’s all gone, now we don’t know how to borrow money.” Stay here and invest again,” Mr. Pua said.

“It’s almost the harvest date, but now they suffer a loss,” Mr. A La said.
According to information from the People’s Committee of Van Ho district, the extremely heavy hailstorm on the afternoon of April 24 caused more than 30 fibro-cement roofed houses in Long Luong commune to have their roofs punctured and severely damaged.
Hail also destroyed more than 550 hectares of crops, mainly corn (400 hectares), the rest were tomatoes, chayote, plums, peaches, beans, cabbage, oranges, tangerines…
