On the afternoon of April 26, Mr. Ho Sy Dung – Chairman of the People’s Committee of Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City – said that engineering and military forces assisted in handling and bringing the bomb to the detonation area according to regulations.

Previously, on April 25, a group of workers were using a excavator to build a drainage ditch system across Dinh Bat Tuy Street, Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City when they scooped up a metal object.

When checking, workers found a bomb below, about 2 meters long and nearly 1 meter in diameter.

The military command of Truong Thi ward then blocked the scene, not allowing people to get close to ensure safety.

The bomb was determined to weigh more than 200kg, suspected to be left over from the war.

The area where the bomb was discovered is located in the center of Vinh City, near many offices, schools, and crowded residential areas in Truong Thi ward.
