The patient is Ms. D.TM, 24 years old, from Lang Son, admitted to the Central Obstetrics Hospital on April 15 with continuous abdominal pain and vomiting. The patient said she took a pregnancy test herself, the result was positive, and had abdominal pain 2 days ago.

Quickly performing an initial examination and ultrasound, the emergency doctor in the Department of Medical Examination determined that the patient had symptoms of intra-abdominal bleeding and requested immediate transfer to the operating room.

While lying on the operating table, Ms. M. was in a drowsy state, her pulse was small and difficult to detect, and her blood pressure could not be measured. Determining that the patient was in hemorrhagic shock, the doctors both resuscitated and administered anesthesia. However, due to excessive blood loss, during the surgery, the patient’s circulation stopped twice.

Immediately, the emergency team consulted with the board of directors, and the entire hospital turned on mode red alertand at the same time held inter-hospital consultations with Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (about 200 meters from the Central Obstetrics Hospital) to focus on treating patients.

After 15 minutes of continuous chest compressions and active resuscitation, the patient’s heart beat again. Immediately, doctors at both hospitals urgently performed surgery to stop the bleeding. The doctor said the patient had a mass ruptured ectopic pregnancy causing loss of 2.5 liters of blood, very dangerous (an average adult has about 5 liters of blood, depending on many factors).
