Vinh Phuc male student won the Silver Medal in the international Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad

The 58th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad – IMChO held in Shenzhen (China) just ended a few hours ago. All 10 contestants from the Vietnamese delegation received medals, of which Ta Quang Chi, a student of class 12A5 specializing in Chemistry at Vinh Phuc Gifted School, won the Silver Medal.

At 4:00 p.m. April 26, the International Jury announced the results of the 58th International Mendelev Olympiad.

In 2024, there will be 151 contestants from 26 countries competing. In addition to the gold, silver and bronze medals awarded, contestants also have the opportunity to receive medals for the person with the best theory and the best practice. In addition, for the first time this year, three prizes named after the Valery Lunin Academy established by the Melnichenko Foundation are being awarded.

The student group selected to participate in this competition consists of 10 members and are all excellent students who won high prizes at the previous National Excellent Student Competition.

All 10 students won medals, including one Gold Medal, 5 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals.

The IMChO competition, also known as the Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad, is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious tournaments for young chemists organized by the Department of Chemistry of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Foundation Melnichenko. This is considered a pivotal competition before the International Chemistry Olympiad.

This is the first year Vietnam has sent members to participate in this competition.
