On April 26, at Tu Tho Resettlement Village (Te Xang commune, Tu Mo Rong district, Kon Tum province), the People’s Committee of Tu Mo Rong district organized an international medicinal culinary contest and announced the establishment of a Vietnamese record. Nam returned with 120 dishes made from ginseng.

The contest has the theme “Medicinal Cuisine – the quintessence of Ngoc Linh mountains and forests”. There were 20 teams participating, including 11 teams from 11 communes and cooperatives in Tu Mo Rong district and 9 guest teams from countries: Cambodia, Laos, China, and Switzerland. In addition, the District People’s Committee also invited clubs and groups specializing in cuisine across the country to attend.

Each team has the participation of a maximum of 3 main chefs. Teams will show off their skills in preparing at least 6 main dishes with ingredients from the medicinal plant ginseng and recommended dishes with their local flavors. The district has distributed free ginseng to processing competition teams.

The jury is also experts and famous chefs from the Center for Research, Conservation and Development of Vietnamese Cuisine; Saigon Professional Chef Association; famous young Vietnamese chef; chefs from Taiwan and France.

Within the framework of the contest, Vietnam Record Organization Joint Stock Company Vietkings announced the establishment of a Vietnamese record for 120 dishes made from ginseng for Tu Mo Rong district.

Mr. Vo Trung Manh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tu Mo Rong district, said: “This is the second time the district has organized a medicinal culinary contest. Unlike last time, this contest is international in scope with the participation of good chefs from many countries.

Despite the language barrier, with their love for food, international chefs have traveled to Tu Mo Rong to join the Xo Dang people in creating nutritious dishes from the specialty plant ginseng.”

Setting a Vietnamese record of 120 dishes made from ginseng has affirmed the value, quality, and appeal of ginseng compared to ginseng grown in other regions and localities.

After many hours of competition, 20 teams prepared 120 culinary dishes derived from ginseng for visitors to enjoy. Dishes with indigenous characteristics of the great Ngoc Linh region have received praise from judges and tourists from near and far.

“The district is encouraging people to convert ineffective crops to growing ginseng. At the same time, the district is also calling for businesses with potential to invest. The good news is that there are businesses connecting with people and opening factory to grow ginseng plants,” Mr. Manh added.
