After losing to Uzbekistan Futsal, Vietnam Futsal entered the World Cup play-off semi-final match with Kyrgyzstan Futsal. This is an opponent ranked 5 places below Vietnam Futsal on the world rankings.

However, Kyrgyzstan Futsal showed that it was not a coincidence that they won against Japanese Futsal in this tournament. The Central Asian team has a quite reasonable defensive and counter-attacking posture.

Vietnam Futsal pressed but did not create many significant opportunities. In the 8th minute, from a counterattack, Maksat Alimov scored the opening goal for Kyrgyzstan Futsal.

After this loss, Vietnam Futsal stepped up and played quite well. We had an equalizer in the 15th minute thanks to Manh Dung.

In the second half, the situation did not change. In the 24th minute, Shokhrukh Makhmadaminov scored to increase the score to 2-1 for Kyrgyzstan Futsal.

In the last 6 minutes of this half, Vietnam Futsal played power-play (the goalkeeper left the goal empty and joined the attack with his teammates). As a result, in the 38th minute, we had an equalizer thanks to Manh Dung.

However, it is also power-play that harms Vietnamese Futsal. Just one minute later, Kyrgyzstan Futsal took advantage of the fact that Vietnam Futsal’s goal had no goalkeeper to score a 3-2 victory.

Thus, Vietnam Futsal was unable to win a ticket to the World Cup. Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan Futsal will face Afghanistan Futsal in the World Cup play-off final. In the previous match, Afghanistan Futsal won 5-3 against Iraq Futsal.

Vietnamese Futsal – Kyrgyzstan Futsal: Decoding the unknown

In the group stage, Kyrgyzstan caused a big surprise when they defeated Japan 3-2, helping to send Japan out of the game early.

Even though Japanese futsal is no longer as strong as before, the fact that this Central Asian team defeated Japan is still a strange phenomenon.

Kyrgyzstan Futsal has never won the right to attend the World Cup finals, which creates the feeling that the country’s futsal team is not strong.

However, in the past, the Kyrgyzstan futsal team once won 3rd place in Asia in 2005, in a tournament held in Vietnam. Two consecutive years later, 2006 and 2007, the Kyrgyzstan futsal team won 4th place on the continent.

Since the above tournaments, Kyrgyzstan futsal has not won high rankings at the Asian futsal tournament.

Kyrgyzstan’s playing style is basically similar to neighboring Uzbekistan, but at a lower level.

However, with teams that are not too strong, if they do not play offensively, the Vietnamese futsal team is very difficult to fight, because we do not have the forte to attack and impose on our opponents. Vietnam’s futsal team is different from Thailand’s in that it does not have enough high-level players to thoroughly resolve situations in frontal attacks.

Hopefully, the Kyrgyzstan futsal team will choose an attacking style of play when facing the Vietnamese futsal team, so that it will be easier for us to play. Anyway, this is still a suitable opponent for coach Diego Giustozzi’s army.

If we overcome Kyrgyzstan in the first round of the play-off series, we will face the winner of the match between Iraq and Afghanistan in the 2nd play-off round. Won the 2nd play-off match, the Vietnamese futsal team Nam will have a ticket to the World Cup.
