The U23 Vietnam team is completing the final preparations before the quarterfinal match against the U23 Iraq team today, April 26. There is not much time, so the whole team is very focused on aiming for the quarterfinal match with the best performance and physical condition.
After the match against Uzbekistan U23 team in the final match of the group stage, Vietnam U23 team only had 2 days to prepare before the match with Iraq U23. The coaching staff’s top priority is to help the players regain their best physical condition.
Facing a strong team like U23 Iraq, the players will have to maximize their ability and playing spirit. Especially the ability to escape pressing because the opponent has good speed and is constantly moving. U23 Vietnam had time to watch videos to research and analyze their opponents’ playing style. The positions on the field are also reminded by the coaching staff to improve performance during competition.

In addition, coach Hoang Anh Tuan let his students practice finishing 11m penalty kicks. The coaching staff provides backup for every situation that may arise in a knockout match. Besides Dinh Bac’s injury, the remaining players are in stable mental and physical condition.
In recent training sessions, the coaching staff focused more on defensive counter-attacks to find opportunities in the quarter-final match against U23 Iraq.
In the past, the U23 Vietnam team had 3 times faced Iraq with a relatively balanced record of winning 1, drawing 1 and losing 1. At the 2018 U23 Asian Finals, coach Park Hang Seo and his team defeated U23. Iraq is also in the quarter-finals after a lucky penalty shootout at the end of the match.
The competition between U23 Vietnam and U23 Iraq will take place at 0:30 a.m. on April 27 and will be reported live by Vietnam Television on VTV5 channel, VTVgo application and VTV Times.
