On the afternoon of April 26, the Vietnamese futsal team entered the match against the Kyrgyzstan team at the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship, determined to win to play the decisive match to win tickets to the 2024 World Cup.
Although very determined and equalized twice after being surpassed by the opponent twice, in the last minutes, the Vietnam futsal team’s tactical mistake led to the third defeat.
Losing 2-3 in the end, coach Diego Giustozzi and his team no longer have a chance to win tickets to the 2024 World Cup, while Kyrgyzstan will play Afghanistan – the team that beat Iraq 5-3 in the remaining play-off match.

The unfortunate 1-2 defeat to the Uzbekistan futsal team in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Asian futsal tournament forced the Vietnamese futsal team to enter the play-offs to compete for the 2024 Futsal World Cup finals.
According to the play-off format, the 4 losing teams in the quarterfinals will be divided into 2 pairs. The two winning teams will face each other in the final play-off match to decide the 5th place in Asia to participate in the world arena.
The first opponent of the Vietnamese futsal team is the Kyrgyzstan futsal team. Previously, in the quarterfinals, this team lost 1-6 to Iran.
On the world rankings, the Vietnamese team is ranked 44th, 5 places above Kyrgyzstan. However, this ranking is only for reference for both teams.
In fact, the Kyrgyzstan futsal team played extremely well in this year’s tournament. They played impressively and defeated defending champion Japan right in the group stage.
