According to the assessment of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, in 2023, Dien Bien province will be affected by 24 natural disasters, including types of cold, harmful cold, thunderstorms, and rain. Rocks, flash floods, landslides, etc. have caused great damage to people and property of the State and the People; of which 6 people died, damaged houses, crops, livestock, traffic works, domestic water,… estimated damage was about 168 billion VND. In the first 3 months of 2024, the province was affected by 2 natural disasters, causing damage to the property of the State and the People, estimated at 1.5 billion VND.
At the conference, representatives of leaders of districts, towns, cities and departments and branches had many opinions surrounding the shortcomings and limitations in natural disaster prevention and control; discuss solutions to overcome difficulties in collecting natural disaster prevention funds in 2023 at the district level, which is low…
Concluding the conference, Mr. Lo Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized: In addition to well implementing 8 tasks and solutions in the coming time, districts, towns, cities, and member sectors shall review Check and add necessary content to the report; especially, soon establish an inspection team of the standing agency to clarify the collection and payment of natural disaster prevention and control funds at the grassroots; Continue to advise the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue on contents and plans to implement tasks in 2024.
