Meanwhile, the road surface has jagged gravel, vehicles going from Chu Chi direction to Tran Van Som bridge and vice versa, or going from Gia Rai High School direction to the roundabout at fast speed and braking quickly, very easily. collision, or falling.

Furthermore, the old Gia Rai bridge has deteriorated, and the authorities have limited the vehicle load, so large trucks going to the center of Dong Hai district are forced to detour to Tran Van Som bridge.

When passing through this area without paying attention, collisions can easily occur, especially motorbikes entering the blind spots of trucks.

A street vendor near the roundabout shared: “In the past year or so, there have been many traffic collisions, motorcyclists falling at the above intersection. If it’s serious, they’ll go to the hospital, if it’s mild, they’ll get scratches. My hands and feet are bleeding.”

Mr. Nguyen Van T (living in Gia Rai town) also said: “Over the past month or so, I took my children to school and saw three motorbike collisions at this roundabout.

Although the victim’s injury was not serious, it still left him feeling uneasy. I hope that local authorities will pay attention to inspection and soon have a definitive solution to ensure traffic safety.”

Talking to reporters from Traffic Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Manh Lieu, Vice Principal of Gia Rai High School, said that in the past, this roundabout area was not complicated, because students went to school mainly towards the front gate (located along the national highway). first).

Currently, the road to the front gate (facing Highway 1) of the school has been revoked by the state, so students have to go to the side gate (currently the main gate of the school).

Also according to Mr. Lieu, the corner from Gia Rai High School to the roundabout is obscured by trees, so vehicles in both directions cannot see each other, making traffic collisions very likely.

In order to warn students as well as people and parents passing through the roundabout area, Gia Rai High School has installed a sign in front of the school’s fence with the content “Dangerous intersection! Go slowly! Pay attention! “.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Head of Gia Rai Town’s Urban Management Department, said that recently, the department also coordinated with the town police and local authorities to organize field inspections, recording inadequacies leading to traffic safety at the roundabout.

“Through the survey, the group proposed solutions by painting speed bumps through the area, installing danger warning signs, clearing bushes, trimming trees that obscure visibility, and installing propaganda panels.

According to the plan, it is expected that the repair will be completed in May 2024 so that people can travel safely, ensuring urban aesthetics, especially traffic safety,” Mr. Son added.
