The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army held a Press Conference to introduce the National Press and Art Photo Contest on the Vietnam People’s Army and National Defense in 2024

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy – Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army chaired the Press Conference.

With the theme “80 years of Military Heroes”, the contest is for professional and amateur journalists and photographers; Vietnamese citizens living, working, and studying at home and abroad; Foreign citizens living, working, studying, and laboring in Vietnam; officers and soldiers of the people’s armed forces. The works participating in the contest focus on reflecting military, national defense, and defense foreign affairs events and activities; the image of building a clean, compact, strong and modern Vietnam People’s Army; building an all-people national defense associated with a solid people’s security posture; Carry out the functions and tasks of the Army in the cause of building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Promoting the good qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in the new period, the Army’s activities in participating in socio-economic development associated with strengthening national defense and security; the results, experiences, good models, and creative ways of officers and soldiers of the entire army in performing training and SSC tasks; Party work, political work, mass mobilization work, helping people eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, prevent natural disasters, epidemics, rescue, rescue work, work behind the Army, overcoming the consequences of war… Activities The actions of militia and self-defense forces, reserve forces and the entire population in building the all-people national defense…

The works participating in the Contest fall into two categories: Journalistic Photos and Artistic Photos. Press photos are works that have been published in print or electronic newspapers, citing the date, month, and year of publication; posting address; author; photo caption. Artistic photos are works created using realistic methods, collages are not accepted (except for collages in the Panorama genre), additions or subtractions that distort reality (can be cropped, adjusted for brightness, darkness of the work). The work was created during the period from January 1, 2020 to September 30, 2024. Contest entries are single photos or series, color photos or black and white photos. Set of photos, from 5 to 8 photos, accompanied by a label of the set of photos, the author must number the photos in order. Each author can submit a maximum of 5 works for each category. Contest photos are in digital format, image files are in JPG format, capacity from 5Mb to 12Mb. Photos are not bordered and do not have any identifying marks on the photo. Do not write captions or signatures on photos. Contest artwork must be works that have not been displayed or won prizes at any national and regional competitions and exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists organizes or coordinates the organization. Authors are responsible for the copyright of their works, the Organizing Committee is not responsible for any disputes related to copyright of works.

Works that closely follow the theme and content of the Contest, have techniques, layout, photographic language, journalistic language, good lighting, beautiful images, aesthetics, and creativity will be selected. Select exhibition display. The Organizing Committee will select 80 works for the final round of exhibition display (40 press photos and 40 art photos).
