On April 26, it was known that the People’s Court of Bac Kan province had just held a first instance trial, sentencing defendant Tran Duc Duong (born 1970, former Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Director of Bac Kan – Trung Registration Joint Stock Company Registrar Center 97-01D) sentenced to 4 years in prison for the crime of “Receiving bribes”.
With the same crime, the court convicted the defendants: Hoang Huy Truong (former Deputy Director) and registrars and employees Pham Hong Chinh; Hoang Van Buong; Nong Minh Tuan; Hoang Ngoc Hai; Tran Xuan Manh; Le Ngoc Hung; Nguyen Ngoc Tu; Ta Tran Thai, sentences range from 2 years to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
In addition to prison sentences, 5 of the 10 defendants mentioned above were each fined an additional 30 – 50 million VND; At the same time, confiscate all bribe money.

According to the indictment, from 2020 – 2022, Tran Duc Duong, as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Bac Kan Registration Joint Stock Company, directed and agreed with Hoang Huy Truong, the surveyors and Professional staff accepted bribes from registration customers, ignored errors of not meeting inspection conditions to issue registration certificates for motor vehicles and specialized machines in violation of the law.
The indictment determined that the group of defendants received money from 150,000 – 1,500,000 VND from 997 customers who came for registration. The amount received, Duong manages and divides it among registrars and professional staff.
The total amount of bribes received in the case is nearly 334 million VND.
