The 2-3 defeat to Kyrgyzstan in the play-off match on the afternoon of April 26 left the Vietnamese futsal team with no chance of participating in the 2024 Futsal World Cup finals. This is a disappointing result for coach Diego Giustozzi and his team when recruiting Vietnamese futsal. Nam is the team that is rated higher in this competition.

Commenting on the result against Kyrgyzstan, coach Diego Giustozzi said: “I don’t have many good reviews. In the first half, the Vietnamese futsal team had a better position but could not create an advantage when entering the break. Second half It’s balanced. It was difficult for the Vietnamese futsal team to find the opponent’s goal. At the end of the match, we made a mistake and let the opponent score the match-winning goal.”

In the match against Kyrgyzstan, the Vietnamese futsal team surprised everyone by choosing the power-play style even though the score was 2-2. It was this style of football that caused the Vietnamese team to receive bitter consequences when they made a mistake and conceded the decisive goal.

Regarding this decision, Mr. Giustozzi said: “In the last minutes, Kyrgyzstan proactively played power-play first. The Vietnamese team can proactively defend. But I think the team can arrange a good kicking situation and score. “When we take risks and make mistakes, we have to pay the price. In this sport, that’s very normal and I’m sorry we couldn’t win.”

When asked about the issues that need to be improved for the Vietnamese futsal team, coach Diego Giustozzi said: “This tournament has many outstanding teams with equal or even better strength. Come to Vietnam and The preparation process took nearly 2 years for the team to change and have the current performance. However, other teams only need 2-3 months of concentration to reach our level. That is something very special and we have to change our way of thinking.”
