On April 26, the Hanoi People’s Court sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Hai (born 1989, in Thach That district) to 10 years in prison; Nguyen Tien Luat (born 1991, same locality) was sentenced to 8 years in prison, both for murder.

Previously, on May 6, 2023, due to a traffic conflict, Hai and Ms. Vuong Thi P. (born 1990, same locality), Mr. Vuong Van M. (born 1998, younger brother of Ms. P.) had an accident. scuffle.

At that time, Hai beat Mr. M. and was injured, so he reported it to Thach That district police.

During the process of the authorities resolving the above matter, Hai repeatedly requested mediation but Mr. M. did not agree. Therefore, Hai was angry and came up with the idea of ​​beating M.’s sisters to get revenge.

At around 10 p.m. on May 30, 2023, Hai called his friend, Luat, to go shoot cats with a homemade gun. The two drove each other by motorbike, Hai sat in the back, carrying a homemade gun and 15 lead bullets.

Hai directed Luat towards Mr. M.’s karaoke bar with the intention of opening fire at the bar to scare the victim into reconciliation and withdraw the complaint.

When approaching Mr. M.’s karaoke bar, Luat drove slowly, letting Hai hold the gun and shoot, causing a hole in the shop’s rolling door. The shop manager is Mr. Nguyen Van D. While sitting inside, I heard the gunshots and opened the door to check and then informed Mr. M. to take care of the matter.

As for Hai, after finishing shooting, he explained to Luat about the conflict with M’s sisters. Hai then told Luat to drive to Ms. P.’s apartment with the intention of continuing to use the gun to shoot at her house to put pressure on Mr. M. to withdraw his application.

When the two subjects went to Ms. P.’s house, Hai opened fire twice, one shot punctured the glass window above the door, and the other shot punctured the corrugated iron board of the house. At this time, inside the house were Ms. P. and a friend.

Next, the two subjects returned to Mr. M.’s shop. Hai pointed the gun barrel at the shop door and fired one shot. Hearing the gunshots, Mr. M. was afraid and ran into the house, rolled down the door and called the police.

The next day, Hai and Luat went to the police station to surrender and confess their crime.

Regarding the homemade alcohol air gun used by Nguyen Van Hai, investigation results showed that the gun stock and bullets were ordered by the defendant online, the gun barrel and other accessories were purchased at hardware stores. materials and then take it home and assemble it yourself.

According to the indictment, defendant Hai’s act of manufacturing and storing homemade alcohol air guns with similar features and effects to hunting guns violates regulations on security, order and social safety. The investigation agency transferred related documents to Thach That District Police to punish administrative violations.

Defendant Hai has been repeatedly punished for administrative violations for fighting, causing injuries, harming the health of others, and has 2 previous convictions for intentionally damaging property and stealing property. . Defendant Luat was tried for intentionally causing injury and fraudulently appropriating property.
