From 2016 until now, Vinh Phuc has reduced more than 10,000 hectares of land for growing crops every year, partly due to urban development, partly due to industrial and service development.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Phuc province, if in 2016 the province’s total annual crop planting area reached 95,930 hectares, by 2023 there will only be 84,500 hectares. Although the area has decreased, with new varieties, new technology and many supporting mechanisms and policies, output has basically not decreased much, and sometimes even increased, such as in 2023, rice increased by 12%, corn increased by 3%. 7%, vegetables of all kinds increase by 15.8% compared to 2022.

Currently, over 4,800 hectares of safe vegetables have been established in the province, dozens of organic farming models such as red-flesh dragon fruit in Lap Thach district; melon in Tam Duong district; rice in Tam Duong, Binh Xuyen, Yen Lac, Lap Thach districts; chayote vegetables in Tam Dao district…

In the crop development strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2050, Vinh Phuc will stabilize 23,593 hectares of rice land, ensuring an output of over 252,000 tons of rice; build specialized vegetable production areas in Vinh Tuong, Yen Lac, Tam Duong, Tam Dao, Lap Thach, Song Lo districts; building linked chains from production to preliminary processing, processing and consumption of vegetables; develop corn growing in coastal lands in Vinh Tuong, Yen Lac, Lap Thach, Song Lo districts; develop fruit trees in Lap Thach, Song Lo, Vinh Tuong, Yen Lac districts; developing medicinal plants in Tam Dao, Lap Thach, Song Lo districts, Phuc Yen city; converting ineffective rice growing areas to growing flowers and ornamental plants in Phuc Yen, Vinh Tuong, Yen Lac, Lap Thach, Tam Dao cities…
