Play-off round 1 of Asian Futsal 2024: Vietnam Futsal stops

--

The unfortunate loss to the Kyrgyzstan futsal team caused the Vietnamese futsal team to miss out on their dream of participating in the futsal World Cup finals for the 3rd consecutive time.

Entering the competition with the determination to find victory, the Vietnam futsal team specifically threatened the other team’s goal with two shots from Nguyen Anh Duy and Chau Doan Phat, but the finishing failed. In the 8th minute, from Thinh Phat’s bad clearance, Kyrgyzstan counterattacked effectively and Alimov finished defeating goalkeeper Ho Van Y, putting the home team in the lead.

At minute 13, Vietnamese futsal equalized after a powerful kick from Manh Dung. Thanks to this goal, the spirit of the “Golden Star Warriors” soared.

The joy of Vietnamese futsal in the first half

At the end of the first half, Vietnamese futsal almost increased the score to 2-1. Tran Thai Huy passed the ball with class, “setting the table” for Minh Quang, but this player did not finish well.

After the break between the two halves, the Vietnamese futsal team rushed forward to threaten the Kyrgyzstan futsal goal. However, the attack continued to be unsuccessful and the first half scenario was repeated.

In the 24th minute, Makhmadaminov passed Thai Huy and fired a classy shot to increase the score to 2-1 for the home team. In a situation where there was nothing left to lose, Vietnamese futsal pushed up the attacking team. The final 5 minutes of the match also saw coach Diego Giustozzi apply a power-play strategy, playing with a 5-man squad high up. The result came in the 38th minute, from Chu Van Tien’s pass, Manh Dung cushioned the ball to equalize 2-2 for the Vietnamese team.

Kyrgyzstan played powe-play more effectively

Hoping to win, Vietnamese futsal continues to play power play. However, this unintentionally caused the “Golden Star Warriors” to suffer injury. In the 39th minute, Anh Duy’s bad touch became an opportunity for Kyrgyzstan futsal to counterattack. Talaibekov unleashed a fatal shot to increase the score to 3-2 against Vietnamese futsal.

Things became even more bitter for Vietnamese futsal when, right in the last minute, Minh Quang’s shot bounced off the Kyrgyzstan futsal post, ending Vietnam’s hopes of equalizing and sending it into extra time.

Losing 2-3 in the final round of play-off round 1, Vietnamese futsal did not qualify to continue.

Goal

Vietnam Futsal: Manh Dung (13, 38);
