In particular, the confrontation between Russia – US and US – China is experiencing many fluctuations, while Vietnam has a comprehensive strategic partnership with all three powers.
In that context, keeping balance in strategic relations with these three powers is not an easy problem. The world has recently praised Vietnam for skillfully balancing and developing relations with all three powers. This is the result of the “bamboo diplomacy” policy, being flexible but still maintaining its stance, not being overcome by the power of power.
However, there are still many challenges ahead as the world security environment is volatile, the world economy is in crisis, and the risks of potential military conflict continue to threaten the European region. Therefore, in order to promote the achievements of “Vietnamese bamboo diplomacy”, we need to flexibly and creatively apply the teachings of Uncle Ho and our ancestors which are “unchangeable, adapt to all changes”. . The constant here is maintaining sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence, which are issues that we must always ensure in every situation and every change. Up to now, Vietnam has tried not to fall into the situation of having to choose sides but we are righteous, ensuring the ultimate interests of the nation and people.
In addition, facing the potential risk of military conflicts on the Korean Peninsula or in the East Sea, Vietnam’s diplomatic activities need to demonstrate to the world its stance of upholding the righteousness of our nation, That is respecting the United Nations Charter and international law, resolving disputes by peaceful means. This is also an important trend that needs to be preserved and promoted in the current era.
The ongoing wars further demonstrate the importance of an effective and flexible diplomatic strategy. Countries that fall into the spiral of war, whether they win or lose, suffer a lot of damage in both life and property. Therefore, it is necessary to try to avoid these risks as much as possible.
In addition, great powers with great military power, despite having many modern weapons, do not always easily win or gain the support of the international community. That is why only righteous wars are supported by many international friends. This confirms that the policy of using force or threatening to use force in international relations is not always the best solution, even if it is a great power.
That context requires that Vietnam, in addition to strengthening our internal strength and defense capabilities, also need flexible foreign policies to avoid confrontation or being pulled into unfavorable “vortexes”. .
