Bac Lieu: A house collapsed into Ba Hien canal

According to initial information, around the above time, Ms. Do Thi Huyen’s family (living in Ba Hien hamlet, Ngan Dua town, Hong Dan district) saw unusual signs between the edge of the floor and the road so they ran out. A while later, the entire level 4 house (area of ​​about 80m2) built with solid walls and corrugated iron roof subsided into Ba Hien canal. Fortunately, the subsidence did not cause any loss of life, but property damage was initially estimated at about 500 million VND.

This house was built in 2011. At the scene, Ms. Huyen’s house sank more than 1 meter deeper than the reinforced concrete road surface.

According to the People’s Committee of Ngan Dua town (Hong Dan district, Bac Lieu province), the initial cause was determined: Recently, the water level of Ba Hien canal has dropped very low due to the impact of drought, both banks are experiencing Subsidence continues. More than half of the houses were built close to the edge of the canal, which was heavy and over time led to deep subsidence, even though the homeowner had previously built an embankment around the house.

Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the local government sent forces to the scene to assist Ms. Do Thi Huyen’s family in moving their assets to a temporary residence. Surrounding people also urgently supported Ms. Huyen’s family to fix the problem.
