Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee Le Trong Yen informed that Dak Nong is a locality with great potential in terms of resources. Among them, bauxite ore in Dak Nong is considered to have the largest reserves in the country, with about 4.3 billion tons of raw ore.

Bauxite in Dak Nong accounts for nearly 45% of the country’s total reserves. Most bauxite reserves are mobilized into national mineral planning.

According to the plan, in addition to 9 bauxite mine areas (area of 1,605.1km2) has been explored and evaluated for reserves. In the period 2021 – 2030, in Dak Nong, continue to mobilize new exploration of 8 more mine areas.

Thus, by 2030, Dak Nong will have up to 17 bauxite mine areas, with a total area of about 1,952 km2.2 (approximately 1/3 of the natural area of the province).

Dak Nong plans 5 alumina factories, with a total capacity of 5-10 million tons of alumina/year. This is the orientation and basis for Dak Nong province to develop in the coming time.

Due to the characteristics of bauxite minerals in Dak Nong distributed over a large area, inadequacies arise and are not consistent with practice in the provisions of law.

This leads to many difficulties and obstacles for the province in planning and investing in socio-economic development.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Trong Yen said that, although in Mineral Planning 866, Implementation Plan 866 also mentioned many related issues with orientation to remove and handle problems for the province. Dak Nong bauxite.

However, these documents only serve as orientation, not as a basis or foundation for issues to be resolved thoroughly and to the end.

Therefore, Dak Nong requests the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to quickly announce and set markers for handing over the field and bauxite ore body area to hand over to localities for management and protection of minerals according to the law. regulations.

Delineating the area and scope of restriction of bauxite mineral activities is really necessary and can be done before granting a mineral exploitation license on the basis of documents provided by the locality on coordinates, area of projects and works.

“To create conditions for Dak Nong province to develop its economy and society, it is proposed to assign the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to soon carry out the work of delineating the area and scope of restriction of bauxite mineral activities”, Deputy Chairman Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Trong Yen proposed

Also according to Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee Le Trong Yen, specialized plans are all included in the zoning planning for bauxite ore exploration, exploitation and processing.

Therefore, Dak Nong recommends that there should be investment mechanisms and policies to adequately resolve overlapping issues to create space for development and avoid constraints and restrictions between plans.

Mineral recovery is regulated in Article 65, Mineral Law. However, there is no guidance on implementation procedures, implementation methods, economic efficiency assessment, gathering, management, protection… Therefore, Dak Nong requested the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to soon issue guidance on implementation.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Trong Yen also emphasized that in order to completely remove and resolve problems and inadequacies related to bauxite minerals, it is necessary to research and develop a separate project on bauxite.

Then, submit it to the competent authority for approval to have a specific policy mechanism to adequately resolve difficulties, problems, and inadequacies related to bauxite…
