The People’s Committee of Van Don district has just issued Plan No. 1299/KH-UBND dated April 24, 2024 on reducing plastic waste in 5 island communes in Van Don district. Accordingly, from April 27, 2024, tourists will visit 5 island communes: Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ngoc Vung, Thang Loi, Ban Sen are not allowed to bring single-use plastic products.

Van Don district held a meeting to implement Plan No. 1299/KH-UBND dated April 24, 2024 on reducing plastic waste in 5 island communes in Van Don district.

Tourists and residents are supported in using recycled, environmentally friendly products to replace plastic bags. At Ao Tien International Passenger Port (Cai Rong) and 6 wharves in 5 island communes, billboards and posters with the theme “Do not bring plastic waste to the island” are synchronously installed, propagandizing and encouraging tourists to leave trash behind. Plastic waste (bottles, cups, plastic bags) right at the gathering area at the exit and entry gates to and from the island.
