After the Day of Complete Liberation of the South and Unification of the Country (April 30, 1975), Dong Nai was a backward agricultural province due to the heavy devastation of the war. According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, Dong Nai has many opportunities to become a center leading regional links, creating and developing the three main economic axes of the Southern region: Southeast, Southwest and maritime economic corridor. In particular, Dong Nai will focus on improving the business investment environment, creating favorable conditions for businesses, investors, and workers. Dong Nai will become an ideal and safe destination for investors.

Currently, in the province’s economic development structure, industry – construction accounts for nearly 60%, trade and services about 32% and agriculture more than 8%. During the development process, Dong Nai always puts people at the center to promote people’s ownership, increase productivity, and innovate effectively to improve quality of life, environment and social welfare. . The province will always be at the forefront of the digital economy, sharing economy, green economy, and circular economy to ensure green growth, towards sustainable development.

When the Provincial Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, is approved by the Government, there will be many domestic and foreign investors participating in quickly implementing projects in Dong Nai to anticipate the International Airport. Associate Professor-Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics, emphasized that Dong Nai’s priorities in the coming period are airport urbanization and logistics services. “Dong Nai must be the center of international integration” – Associate Professor-Dr. Tran Dinh Thien shared.

To catch the development opportunity from the Long Thanh Airport Project, the Provincial People’s Committee has just issued an international competition plan for general urban planning ideas for Long Thanh Airport and surrounding areas. The organization of the international competition aims to attract creative and unique planning ideas from domestic and foreign experts and planners. From there, choose the optimal planning plan, meeting the requirements of planning, architecture, culture, socio-economic efficiency, national defense – security and environmental protection.

“From the results of the competition, we will consider and select good ideas, breakthroughs, and important content to include in the Long Thanh Urban General Planning Adjustment Project until 2045” – Acting Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Tan Duc said.

Besides Long Thanh Airport, according to planning, Bien Hoa Airport will also be invested in for dual-use exploitation.
