The Golden Market was built in the year At Ty 1845 and restored in the year Quy Mui 2003. It is a long-standing ancient market in Quyet Thang commune, bearing many cultural beauties of the East.

The Golden Market has an area of ​​about 1,600 m2, divided into 2 rows of shops, which are the main business and trading places of local people. Each row of shops consists of 10 rooms, the first two wings are made into curved roofs. Two rows of stone pillars, front and back, with 22 columns of each shop are made of square stone slabs. The stone pillar is shaped, has several faces, and is engraved with Chinese and Nom characters to record the names of individuals, families, and associations in the village who have made meritorious deeds. The horizontal beams, vertical beams, diaphragms, and rafters are all made of four-iron wood, the roof is covered with tiles, the steps and drains are made of large, elaborately assembled stone slabs. The market yard is made of tilted bricks, and the entire yard has dozens of stone slabs with holes in them to place flags during festivals.

After hundreds of years, the Gold Market is now seriously degraded with a row of shop walls cracked. Along with that, wooden beams, columns and pillars have many long cracks, and the tile roof system at this ancient market is seriously damaged. The Gold Market management board has posted danger warning signs, prohibiting sales, travel and parking in the row of shops. However, some people still park their cars and sell goods around this row of shops.

Sellers at the ancient market always expect the authorities to renovate and repair the Gold Market to make trading more convenient and ensure safety and security at the market.

Talking to reporters, Chairman of Quyet Thang Commune People’s Committee Le Van Thao said that currently some market construction projects have seriously degraded. Therefore, it is necessary to organize and establish a commune market as a basis for land management, construction and gradually perfecting facilities with public works to serve the people.

The People’s Committee of Hai Duong City has made a decision to approve the task of detailed planning to build a 1/500 gold market. Based on the approved planning tasks, the Commune People’s Committee has organized planning, submitted it for appraisal and approval according to regulations to prepare for upgrading and repairing the market. The Golden Market is an old local market, so during the upgrade process, we will try to retain the market’s ancient appearance and proceed in stages for repair.
