25 km north of Tuy Hoa City, An Hoa Hai, Tuy An district is a coastal commune, with outstanding terrain with small islands undulating into the sea.

An Hoa Hai people make a living by fishing, tourism is not yet developed, visitors mainly come to camp seasonally. Two places in the commune that are popular with tourists are Phuoc Dong fishing village and Mai Nha island.

Choosing April, the beautiful sea season, calm waves in the Central region, Hoang Minh Duc, Hanoi, and a group of friends went to Phuoc Dong fishing village and Mai Nha island to camp and rest during the summer.

Not as famous as Bai Xep or Ganh Da Dia, Phuoc Dong fishing village still maintains a peaceful look with a long white sand beach, rudimentary boats anchored on the shore, blue water reflecting the color of the sky.

With beautiful wild seascapes, fresh air and the simple lifestyle of the coastal people of Nau, the fishing village in recent years has become known to many people as Phu Yen Homestay village, said Mr. Vo Thanh Phuong, Head of the village. Phuoc Dong said.

Coming here, Duc encountered a familiar scene of villagers working together to untangle nets and clean boats. “There is no noise from the city, the quiet scenery and the fresh blue of the sea are what help me heal,” he said.

The toad market and eateries under temporary tents set up along the beach have the character of a fishing village, where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood dishes. Duc suggests that tourists should not miss the dish “flashing squid”, which is live squid, flashing light dots will appear on the body, when eaten raw you can feel the “flavor of the sea”.

The cost of food at Phuoc Dong fishing village is “surprisingly cheap”, pancakes cost 1,000 VND each, banh it 2,000 VND each, a cup of sweet soup costs 3,000 VND or a bowl of vermicelli costs 7,000 – 10,000 VND, Duc said.

Leaving the fishing village, Duc’s group took a boat from An Hai wharf to Mai Nha island for 100,000 VND per person.

Mai Nha Island is about 1.2 km2 wide and has no houses. Duc feels like he is on a deserted island with high rocky rapids interspersed with low-story forests, wide grass beds and vast views of the sea.

The group camped and slept on the island to watch the night sky and welcome the sunrise over the sea.

This is the activity most tourists choose when coming to Mai Nha Island in the past 2 years, said Mr. Vo Van Dieu, a tour guide in Phu Yen, who often takes visitors to Mai Nha Island. In addition to taking a tour, visitors can go to the island to visit, camp for free, bring their own tent or rent for 100,000 – 200,000 VND. Remember to prepare your own food and drinks or order cooking services in advance at the fishing village.

In the southwest of the island are clear blue beaches. Duc can see schools of guppies, moss, and seaweed on the bottom. Some groups bring kayaks to paddle or dive to see the coral.

Popular places to camp overnight and watch the sunrise and sunset on the island are at the front and back beaches. The front beach has a number of temporary tents for local people, where they can buy seafood, prepare food and go to the toilet. This is also the side that protects from the wind, making it easier to set up camp and light a fire, Mr. Dieu said.

Tourists should prepare extra charged lights, insect spray and can bring coffee to drink early in the morning when welcoming the sunrise, Duc shared.

Back beach – where there are large rocks, small caves and large grass fields, suitable for taking pictures and fishing, most beautiful at sunset.

On the island there is also a clear natural water hole, called the infinity pool, according to Mr. Dieu. Water holes form in the indentations on the surface of the rocks. After the tide recedes, the water stagnates to form unique natural puddles, which are attractive check-in locations.

An Hoa Hai is where Duc feels the connection between people and nature. There are no barriers or gaps between tourists and local people.

From An Hoa Hai commune, visitors can visit the Hon Yen national scenic complex, the provincial historical-cultural relic complex of Ganh Da – Hoi Son Tomb and Phu Thuong Tomb. Famous Phu Yen tourist destinations such as the hill in the movie “I see yellow flowers on the green grass” at Bai Xep, about 8 km away, or the scenic Ganh Da Dia, about 15 km away.

Before coming to An Hoa Hai, Duc notes that tourists should carefully consider their personal travel preferences, not placing high expectations on the services of a local fishing village but focusing on feeling the life and nature of the place. Here in the most primitive way.

Immense fields, green moss beaches and fields of yellow flowers on green grass create a wonderful picture that visitors will never forget. Phu Yen is not only a destination, but also a place to experience the magic of nature and find peace in the heart of every visitor.
