On the morning of April 27, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tinh, Commander of the Military Command of Tri Ton district (An Giang province) said that the forest fire in the Ke Cang Duoc area on Co To mountain (To Thuan hamlet, Nui commune) To, Tri Ton district) has basically been controlled.

The fire did not affect the residential area, but at some points in the rock cavities and crevices, the authorities noted that it was still smoldering. Initial estimates were that the fire area was more than 6 hectares wide, mostly bamboo, bamboo and a small part of forest trees.

Tri Ton district is continuing to mobilize forces and vehicles to approach areas with smoldering smoke to completely extinguish the fire.

Mr. Nguyen Van Be Tam, Chairman of Tri Ton District People’s Committee, said that at the place where the fire occurred, the authorities recorded many loud explosions.

“The fire started from dry grass on the mountain. The fire area has no forest, mainly rocks and trees. Some loud explosions are suspected to be from leftover bombs, so the authorities are approaching cautiously.” scene,” Mr. Be Tam said.

Tri Ton district leaders said that military forces, forest rangers and localities are coordinating to carry out remote fire fighting. However, due to the situation in the fire area with many high slopes, large rocks, lots of smoke, explosive rocks and rocks falling from above and downhill, hindering firefighting work, the functional forces were very cautious to ensure the firefighting work. In addition to the fire in the Ke Cang Duoc area on Co To Mountain, there was also a large forest fire that occurred the same evening in the 400 hill area of ​​Dai Mountain (An Thanh hamlet, Luong Phi commune, Tri Ton district).

The fire was close to the residential area of ​​An Thanh hamlet, so on the evening of April 26, the Tri Ton – Thoai Son inter-district Forest Management Station and Forest Ranger District combined military forces, police and local authorities with nearly 200 people. people participating in fighting forest fires.

Tinh Bien firefighting and rescue team provided 2 fire engines, along with over 10 officers and soldiers participating in support.

Currently, this fire has basically been controlled.
