The new administrative area project of My Xuyen district was approved by the People’s Committee of Soc Trang province as a construction investment project on October 29, 2021 in Decision No. 2977/QD-UBND. The project started construction on August 12, 2022, and was completed and put into use by April 2024. The new administrative area is located at Provincial Road 940, Hoa Phuong hamlet, Hoa Tu 1 commune, with a total area of ​​25.61 hectares, with a total investment of up to 200 billion VND. Investing in the construction of the project to complete the new administrative area combined with the development of a new urban area in My Xuyen district is part of the planning of Soc Trang province. The mission of the administrative area is to serve political activities and state management of economy, society, culture, defense and security. At the same time, it meets the essential needs of people in the area.

Through two resistance wars, the people of My Xuyen have suffered many sacrifices, loss of human strength and property. The entire district has 405 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; 2,362 martyrs; 1,061 wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and 4,074 families contributed to the revolution. Currently, there are 6 heroic traditional communes recognized by the Prime Minister as Safe Zone communes.
