From February 2024 until now, the price of sweet potatoes in the fields in Giong Rieng and Go Quao districts has dropped to only 2,000-3,300 VND/kg, farmers have lost 5-9 million VND/wage.

During the same period in 2023, the price of sweet potatoes in Giong Rieng district (Kien Giang province) reached 11,000-12,500 VND/kg.

According to the Farmers’ Association of Long Thanh commune, Giong Rieng district (Kien Giang province), due to the difficult consumer market, sweet potato harvests are congested, causing many traders to give up their deposits – the price of 4,500 VND/kg – in advance.

Currently, Giong Rieng district still has about 120 tons of sweet potatoes of all kinds that have no output.
