“Today the district will focus its forces on completely extinguishing small fires in Co To Mountain,” Chairman of Tri Ton District People’s Committee emphasized.

On the same morning, Tri Ton district continued to mobilize more than 300 people to participate in fighting fires on Co To mountain, including forces from: Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police, Military Command. An Giang Provincial Police Department, Tri Ton District Military Command, Forest Ranger, Forest Management Board, district police, commune police, militia and self-defense forces and local people.

Tri Ton district also mobilized additional machinery and equipment such as: drones, shoulder-mounted fire extinguishers, water cans, water pumps,… to approach and fight fires in the areas. places that are difficult to reach, such as rock holes, slopes, and mountain tops.

Mr. Nguyen Van Be Tam, Chairman of Tri Ton District People’s Committee, said that at the place where the fire occurred, the authorities recorded many loud explosions.

“The fire started from dry grass on the mountain. The fire area has no forest, mainly rocks and trees. Some loud explosions are suspected to be from leftover bombs, so the authorities are approaching cautiously.” scene,” Mr. Be Tam said.

Due to the situation in the fire area, there are many high slopes, large rocks, lots of smoke, rocks exploding and falling from above downhill, hindering firefighting work.

After many efforts until the morning of April 27, with the support of units, Tri Ton district was able to control the fire. Initially estimated, the fire caused 6 hectares of bamboo, bamboo shoots and a small part of the forest area to be burned.
