HOLLYWOOD, California (NV) – A24’s political-themed movie “Civil War” is finding a lot of success in both the domestic and international markets.
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, on Tuesday, April 23, surpassing $70 million in North America after opening on April 12.
This is a film directed by Alex Garland, with the main role being star Kirsten Dunst, about a female photographer traveling across the United States divided by violence in a fictional future. The production also stars Nick Offerman as the president of the United States as the nation is divided by a new civil war between the government and a faction led by California and Texas.
“Civil War” was A24’s first film to top the domestic market, and remains the top film after two weeks. With a focus on the United States, this film may not have attracted an international audience, but it was unexpectedly successful, with a revenue in the UK of nearly $5 million, followed by the Netherlands with a revenue of $750,000.
After that, “Civil War” was shown in smaller markets such as Brazil, earning up to $1.2 million, and Spain, earning nearly $600,000.
After two weeks of release, “Civil War” is one of the highest-grossing films of independent film studio A24, following successful films such as “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” “Hereditary” and “Lady Bird. ”
