Ly Hai is grateful to his mother, Mrs. Pham Thi Hai, 98 years old, who has worked hard in small business for many years and raised her children to become educated people.

The director talked about his mother, his inspiration for writing scripts and producing films Flip 7: One wish. The work is about a poor mother with many children, who has many similarities with his mother. Ly Hai invested in scenes spread across the country, and gathered actors from diverse regions. Opened some early screenings from April 24, officially opened in theaters on April 26, by the evening of the same day, the film reached a revenue of 39.2 billion VND, according to Box Office Vietnam. Many audiences praised the work’s close and touching theme of mother’s love.
Ly Hai, 55 years old, is one of the most successful producers at the box office, opening the trend of making franchise films on Vietnamese screens with the series Flip face. He was originally a novice when he entered the field of film production. Graduating from the drama course of Theater Arts School 2 (now Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema), in the early 1990s, he entered the singing profession. In 2010, Ly Hai left the stage and turned to directing.
Four parts Flip face Successfully started commercially when collecting more than 350 billion VND. 2021, part five – Flip: 48h – reaching a revenue of 150 billion VND, is the second most popular Vietnamese film of the year (after Godfather of Tran Thanh, more than 430 billion VND). In 2023, he won with sixth place, revenue of 300 billion VND, ranked second roof (500 billion VND), Mrs. Nu’s house (475 billion) and Godfather (420 billion) in the list of the most popular Vietnamese movies of all time.
He married Minh Ha in 2010 and has four children. His wife is a producer and supports him in his career.
