Promoting the spirit of great solidarity from the Dien Bien Phu victory and the victory on April 30, 1975

On the morning of April 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024) and the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification (30 April 1975 – April 30, 2024)

Attending the meeting were Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen and many leaders and former leaders of the Party, State and Ho Chi Minh City.

Major General Nguyen Minh Hoang, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association, gave a speech reviewing the tradition of 70 years of Dien Bien Phu victory and 49 years of Southern Liberation Day and national reunification.

Major General Nguyen Minh Hoang affirmed that the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu is an immortal epic originating from the glorious historical tradition of our nation; from the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh. Victory also came from the strength of the great national unity and the determination of our army and people to fight for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. This was a military, political, and diplomatic victory in the resistance war against French colonialism and American intervention.

Also according to Major General Nguyen Minh Hoang, the victory on April 30, 1975 will forever go down in history, affirming the great stature and historical significance of the resistance war against the US. The victory demonstrated the will for independence, autonomy, self-reliance, self-reliance and desire for peace of the Vietnamese people.

After the liberation of the South and unification of the country, generations of Ho Chi Minh City leaders pioneered, initiated, and broke through many policies and practices.
